The local chapter of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition had sharp criticism for the adoptive family of Anna Mae He regarding the release of a journal, which claims the 8-year-old is suffering as a result of being reunited with her birth parents.

Monday, May 14, 2007, Rev. Lasimba Gray, head of the PUSH Coalition, questioned the authenticity of the journal and called its release a blatant attempt to reverse the order of the Tennessee State Supreme Court.

In January, the State Supreme Court ordered Anna Mae be returned to the custody of her birth parents, ending a nearly 7-year-old custody battle. The ruling called for the transition process to begin immediately.

Earlier this month, ABC News obtained a journal kept by adoptive mother Louise Baker. It details a painful transition that has caused the little girl to "suffer inhumanely." Release of the journal was an apparent violation of an agreement made by all parties not to comment on the process.

Gray said the journal is a fraudulent attempt to gain sympathy for the Baker's and reverse the Supreme Court's decision. He said the journal statements are refuted by the statements of Anna Mae's birth parents, a child psychologist involved in the case, and a court appointed guardian. All of whom have said the transition is going smoothly. Gray called upon Juvenile Court Judge Curtis Person to take appropriate action.

It is unclear if the Baker family will take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
